Westcott Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir 2016

Aromas of black cherry, vanilla and sweet spice. Fresh and vibrant red fruit on the palate with vanilla, caramel and dark berry accents on the finish. This pinot noir is medium bodied with pleasant tannins and a long finish. 23 months in French oak, whole cluster wild ferment. 12.3% ABV.

The 2016 growing season had a staggering 36 days with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees. The season was also noteworthy for its dry conditions with only 325mm of rainfall versus a normal average of 525mm. Some locations in Niagara West (including Westcott Vineyards) received brief respites with near normal rainfall in the latter parts of July and August. Westcott Vineyards began the 2016 harvest in mid September and continued through to the first week of October. 90 Points Natalie Maclean.
