Dark ruby colour with bold aromas of black liquorice, black pepper, cherry, and baking spice. The entry is rich, full, and scintillating. The palate is mouthwatering and smooth with a hint of chocolate. The finish is voluptuous with soft, velvety tannins. 15.9% ABV.
Saldo doesn’t fit in, but that doesn’t matter. When you’re from “here and there” (that’s what Saldo means in Latin), you don’t need to form to one, single place. That’s the funny thing about expectations—they’re made to be broken. The 2017 vintage Prisoner Wine Company Saldo Zinfandel represents what this grape variety is today. This wine is bold, yet exhibits an excellent combination of ripe fruit and savoury spices.
