Ridge Lytton Springs Zinfandel 2019

Appealing nose of pepper, and raspberry. Layered plum, blackberry and cocoa on the palate with chalky tannins and a lingering finish. Pair with Texas-style BBQ beef brisket, a classic American burger or fig stuffed pork loin. 14.6% ABV.

This is an excellent vintage: appealing now, and certain to improve over the next decade. The wine shows the potent jammy fruit of old-vine Sonoma Zinfandel with notes of brambly raspberry, pepper, mint, blackberry and cocoa.  That intricacy comes in part from the blend, a thoughtful combination of 73% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah, 9% Carignane, and 2% Mataro (Mourvedre). Acidity and tannin structure are firm, but not overwhelming.
